Temperatures will average slightly to moderately above-normal across the ERCOT system through early next week. Low-to-mid-90s will be common. Next Monday shows the hottest potential for the system as a whole. A cold front will move through the state between Tuesday and Wednesday with noticeably cooler and especially less humid conditions behind the front. Also, scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely be associated with the cold front. Most of the state will remain dry until the front arrives, though the eastern third of the state will see increasing rain chances this weekend.
Sunny skies will encompass most of Texas today with temperatures trending one to two degrees hotter than yesterday on average. Some lingering cloud cover over southeast Texas will hold Houston temperatures in the 80s while most of the rest of the state will be above 90 this afternoon. A few isolated thunderstorms will pop this afternoon over southern Far West Texas. Also, a few spotty light rain showers will be found today over southeast Texas, mostly east-northeast of Houston.
More sunshine and the limited rain from today will be even less tomorrow. Highs on Friday will be in the low-to-mid-90s.
